Dear Aunt Maria, Uncle Mike, Michael, Peg, Deb & Andrea: Words cannot express how sorry I am for your loss. Please know that my heart is broken also. I met Tom when he was six days old, the first newborn I had ever seen. Wow, what dimples. I close my eyes and I can hear his voice; one of his stories for sure. His eyes would get big and his hands would be waving. What a treasure he was, fun and so generous. To know him was to love him. I am so sad for you all and regret deeply that I was not able to be there with you. Hope to see you soon. with love & prayers marie

Having worked with Tom for years at Rome Hospital, I will always remember him for his caring, his wit and his sense of humor. He was always there whenever anyone needed help, whether on the floors or in the parking lot if you had car trouble at 11pm on a cold winter day. I haven't seen Tom in some years but will always remember him fondly with that smile, that grin and those sparkling eyes. RIP Tom, your Rome Memorial Hospital family is broken hearted, but are all the better for having known you and your memory will live on with us forever. My prayers and deepest sympathy to the Moskin family.

Dear Tom, The following is the collective effort of your neighbors to express the importance you have had in our lives; although you most certainly never knew. Many of us who grew up next to you, and remained on “The Hill” may not have known you on an extremely personal level - though you seemed as familiar to us as the curve in the road that defines your farm. We do not necessarily know your favorite color; although we would guess blue- like the color of your eyes and the skies you would endlessly hope for and work under. Neither could we say what your favorite TV programs were, not that you had much time for such things. We can say with exact certainty that you were one heck of a neighbor and friend. You were never shy about offering a helping hand when needed, even if it put you behind. You spoke kindly with that unmistakable draw that quickly exposed your honest and genuine spirit. You were a model farmer who took extreme pride in his role as such. In fact, besides your company, this is perhaps where we will miss you most. We will miss seeing you every day in the fields you so carefully prepared, groomed, maintained, and harvested. We will miss seeing you “topless” and tan on each and every hot summer day to come. We will miss meeting you on the road with your tractors and especially the exchange of smiles and waves that will no longer take place . We will miss seeing you fix fence, tending to your cows, walking back and forth to the barn and your blue truck parked there. We will miss it all, Tom. Although you didn’t know, you made the world we lived in… better. You were a comfort with the thoughtfulness you demonstrated and the beauty of the land you created and surrounded us with… we will forever love, remember, and be grateful for you. Thank you for it all. Rest well. With Love, YourQuaker Hill Neighbors and Friends

"Go rest high on that "Moskin" Mountain, at least that's what those of us who were fortunate enough to have had Tommy as a friend called it, either way, its almost as if Vince Gill wrote that song for Tom.
Our family has known Tommy for more than 40 years and I can truly say Tommy was without a doubt "one of the good ones". Although we saw Tommy infrequently over the many years, it was always special when we did and we owe our sister and brother in-law (Joanie and Jimmy) for introducng us way back when. Tommy's infectious smile, his sharp wit, his country-boy charm, his sense of humor, and of course his "mountain twang" were ever present and will live in our hearts and minds forever. I'm pretty sure Tommy would be ticked-off if all we did was hang our heads and sob over his way too soon departure from this earthly world (whether he would be ticked off or not....we did) but instead, would want us to celebrate his life by sharing a favorite story (and a cold one!) A Tommy Memory...if you will. Of course the tough part for many of his friends will be which memory to pick.
For us, it's pretty easy.... Our daughter Ashley was married nearly two years ago to the day. Her dream was to have a backyard wedding ceremony at our 150+ year-old farm house complete with all the trimmins! As easy as it might sound to come up with 50 bales of fresh, clean hay that guests could sit on....it's not! Unbeknownst to me farmers have alot of rules when it comes to hay! Little things like not letting it get too wet for fear of mold or not wanting people to sit on the bales to be used to feed stock because people tend to leave little surprises behind in the bales that could be eaten and injure the stock.
Now, there was never any doubt in our daughter's mind during the planning stages that good old Tommy would be providing the hay....she just forgot to tell Tommy! Long story short(er), Tommy to the rescue (of course not without Tommy's pre-requisite b**l-breaking). Not only did Tommy come through just as he always did providing the 50 bales of hay and of course then refusing to accept any money! Further, in typical Tommy work-aholic fashion and in-between all his farm chores, he showed up sometime in between the end of the ceremony and end of the reception gathering and loading all 50 bales and taking them away "like it never even happened". So, thanks in-part to Tommy, the wedding ceremony was beautiful, the hay bales just the right touch, and my daughter, wife and myself (not having to re-load 50 bales of hay!) couldn't have been happier.
As the song goes Tommy, "your work on earth is done", and....Heaven....you're gettin "one of the really good ones". Our heartfelt condolences to the Moskin family. Rest in Peace Tommy, you will be missed.

Dearest Moskin Family: Please accept my deepest sympathy in this very sad time of your life. I last saw Tom at my dad's funeral many years ago and was grateful for his presence. Though I don't get back to Quaker Hill very often when I do memories of growing up there flood back. The Moskins are part of those memories. May God surround each of you with comfort and hope during this time of deep sadness.
