So sad to learn of Tom’s passing. Growing up next door to “Percy” I always watched in awe what the “big kids” were up to. Tom taught me how to build, paint and fly wire controlled .049-gauge airplanes. He played a huge role in my baseball development. He always had time for a game of catch after his Pony/Colt baseball game. He would always remove his cleats before walking on our grass, as he didn’t want to damage the lawn. Tom, Skip &Tim built a go kart which I took on its maiden outing, resulting in a crash when the “kill switch” malfunctioned. Cow Pasture baseball games, baseball cards in the spokes of our bikes, hitting stolen golf balls into the swamp, Pressure Pond target shooting, skateboards made from dismantled steel roller skates nailed to boards, AJ Hornet rubber band powered gliders from Jake’s store, cutting the barb wire fence, and Tom driving his “Bombs” in the pasture, firecrackers Tom would bring back from Canada (hidden inside the car’s hubcaps) are just some of the many simple pleasure memories I have of Tom. I liked watching him wash and wax his old hard-top convertible on Friday date night before going to the Drive-In. Years later He and Woody bought matching White and Red Stingrays before leaving for Vietnam. I remember the day Tom put his up on blocks in the garage to await his return.
He was one of the good guys. He was like a big brother to me.

Ah Uncle Tom.....so so so many beautiful, happy, wonderful times. So many laughs and some tears as well. We will make it, and your memory will be a daily Blessing.

Tom you will be greatly missed. The group of 3 Tom, Fred, and Tim spent every day together while we were growing up on William's Road.
Some of our daily activities together were fishing on the Mohawk or Little Creek, riding bikes on the tow path and Fish Hatchery, playing baseball, football, cards, golf at Delta Knolls, looking for golf balls and caddying at Teugega, swimming at Lake Delta, or repairing our bicycles or lawn mowers. We were always together doing something and enjoying each others companionship. I will be donating to the Humane Society of Rome in your memory and planting a tree near the Pressure Pond one of our favorite places to spend time many years ago. You and your entire family are in my thoughts and prayers. T.Rees
