Obituary of Lawrence E. Siler
Lawrence "Larry" E. Siler, age 80, of Rome, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 15, 2021, at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center.
Larry was born in Oneida, NY on March 30, 1941, to the late Walter and Beatrice Day Siler. On May 27, 1994, he was united in marriage to the former Patricia Barcomb. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, retiring after 30 years of service at the rank of Lt. Colonel. Following his military career, he worked for the New York State Lottery.
Larry was a member of the Stanwix Veterans & Men's Club, Henry P. Smith Post #24 American Legion, and the Eagle's Club. He was an avid reader and history buff. He was very proud of his military service and was a true patriot.
Larry is survived by his his loving wife of 27 years, Patricia; his daughter and her children, Stephanie (John) Fisher, and Ryan and Kyle of Oneida; his son and his children, Stephen (Anne) Siler, and Nicholas, Benjamin, and Matthew of West Seneca, NY; and his two step sons, Steven (Nicole) Sholett of Syracuse, and Kevin (Lorie) Sholett and his children, Nicholas, Tyler, Graham, and Ella of Vestal, NY; and his sister, Thelma Cook. He was predeceased by two brothers, Robert and Ernest.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, August 23rd at 6 PM at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Burial with military honors will be held in Glenwood Cemetery, Watertown, NY at 11 AM on Tuesday.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 4 to 6 PM prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Stanwix Veterans & Men's Club.
