Anne E. Rice Rome,NY Anne E. Rice, age 86 of 6300 Lowell Rd. Rome, NY passed away on the Lord's Day, Sun. Jan. 30, 2011 after a brief illness, with her children at her side. Anne was born April 12, 1924 in Utica, the daughter of the late John N. and Ruth Prichard. She graduated from Leonardsville School and Rider College, Trenton, NJ.. 65 years ago, on July 20, 1946, she married Arthur J. Rice in Oriskany. She was employed at Griffiss AFB for 31 yrs, retiring in 1985. She was a member of the Bartlett Baptist Church where she was a member of the Ladies Aid and had previously served as a deacon. Anne's wonderful Christian example and her amazing selfless love were such an inspiration to all of her family, friends and every life she touched. She was a life long member of Alanon for 60+ yrs. Anne cherished the spiritual support and love received from all of her Alanon "sisters" throughout the years. Her faith and prayers led to the sobriety of her husband and a life time commitment to help others whose lives have been effected by alcoholism. http://alcoholism.about.com/od/meetala/a/alanon_ny.htm She is survived by her loving husband, Arthur, two daughters and their spouses, Kathleen and Nick Pantazis of Ava, NY, Linda and William Kilbourn of Rome, NY and five sons, William and Diane Rice, Whitesboro, NY, David Rice, Chandler, AZ, Stephen and Michelle Rice, Scottsdale, AZ, Mark and Donna Rice, Herkimer, NY and John Rice, Phoenix, AZ. She leaves 14 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by two sisters, Clara Dutcher, Ballston Spa, NY and June and Arthur Litchfield, Brevard, NC. She was predeceased by her sister, Phyllis Jacobsen. In accordance with Anne's wishes, there will be no calling hours. A Spring memorial service and celebration of Anne's life will be held at Bartlett Baptist Church on Tues, April 12, 2011 at 6 PM, with a meal to follow at the church. Interment will be in Long Lake Cemetery, Long Lake, NY, on Wed, April 13, 2011. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Bartlett Baptist Church, Rome or Eastern Star Home, Oriskany.
