Stanley (Wisniewski) Swiss, age 81, of Westernville, passed away Sunday, September 26, 2010. He was born April 27, 1929, in Boonville, a son of Frank and Mary Wielka Wisniewski, and educated in Boonville schools. Stan was united in marriage to the former Barbara Herriman, on June 24, 1956, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Anchorage, Alaska. Stan formerly owned and operated Swiss Service. He was a member of St. Paul's Church. Stan was one of twelve children and grew up on a farm on Potato Hill in Boonville. He developed a strong work ethic, and learned many skills that served him the rest of his life. For over thirty summers, he traveled to Alaska to work as a commercial Salmon fisherman with his brother, John. He also worked for several years at Sears Oil Co., before opening Swiss Service. He was a man of strong faith and faced a number of serious physical ailments and challenges, with a great sense of courage. Stan enjoyed the outdoors and was a skilled hunter and fisherman. Along with his two sons, Stan built a camp on Beaver River, which the family still enjoys. Stan is survived by his loving wife, Barbara; three daughters and two sons in laws, Virginia (Ginger) and Russell Thompson of Beaver River, NY, Valerie Swiss and Richard Lee of Macedon, NY, and Kimberly and Todd VanDresar of Westernville; two sons and a daughter in law, Kevin E. Swiss and Regina Rich of Rome, and Gregory and Sue Swiss of Rome; a sister and brother in law, Virginia (Ginny) and Rich Rabe of Rome; grandchildren, Clinton and Sarah, Chelsea, Tyler, Dustin, Joshua, Hannah and Madison. She was predeceased by four sisters, Frances Stysh, Jane Evans, Nena Regin and Helen Barr, and brothers, Henry, Edwin, Bill, Alfred, Milton and John. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10:15 AM, from Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street and at 11:00 AM at St. Paul's Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Boonville. Relatives and friend may call at the funeral home, Tuesday 4 to 7 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to American Lung Association.
