Howard A. Roe, age 73, of Rome, passed away on July 30, 2018, at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, after a brief illness.
Howard was born in Rome on January 22, 1945 to the late Clarence O. and Blanche I. Burkhart Roe. He was educated in the Rome Schools. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War in the U.S. Army. Howard worked as a machine operator at Rome Cable and after retiring, worked as the parking meter man for the City of Rome. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting, fishing, and gardening.
Howard is survived by a sister, Julia Canfield of Rome; a brother and sister in law, George and Dorothy Roe of Rome; nieces, Christine, Robin, Laura, Julia, and April; a nephew, George; several great nieces and nephews; and many friends. He was predeceased by his brothers, Richard, Sam, John, and Robert; and a niece, Roxanne Roe.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 2 PM at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home from 12 to 2 prior to the service.
