Marjorie J. Roth Marjorie J. Roth, age 86, of Rome, passed away November 9, 2009, at Bethany Gardens. She was born June 1, 1923, in Utica, a daughter of Jesse and Betsy Dawson Crowther, and graduated from Utica Free Academy and the Excelsior School of Business. Marjorie was united in marriage to Earl R. Roth, on April 26, 1947, in Utica; he died May 4, 1982. She served as a secretary-bookkeeper for various businesses and later for the Mid-York Library System, retiring years ago. She was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church in Utica, where she was a member of the Altar Guild and Choir, and taught Sunday school. Marjorie was an avid bowler and enjoyed the many friends she made in her bowling leagues. She also enjoyed golfing, music and tending to her flower gardens. Marjorie is survived by a daughter and son in law, Nancy and Joseph Benoit of Rome; a son, Ronald Roth of Old Forge; a brother, Robert Crowther of Whitesboro; grandsons, Richard and Joseph Benoit; and great grandchildren, Bennett and Breeanna Benoit. The funeral service will be held Friday at 11:00 AM, at Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Burial will be in Carr Cemetery in Marcy. Relative and friends may call at the funeral home, Thursday 4 to 8 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bethany Gardens Memorial Fund, Alzheimer's Association of CNY or the Ava Dorfman Senior Center.
