Obituary of Willis J. Horth

Willis J. "Bill" Horth, age 70, of Rome and Clinton, NY, passed away unexpectedly on January 30, 2018 at Faxton- St. Luke's Healthcare.
Bill was born in Oneonta, NY on December 12, 1947 to the late Willis C. and A. Helen McMyne Horth. He graduated from Laurens high school in 1965 and earned his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Electrical Engineering from The University of Buffalo in 1973. Bill worked for the Northern Communications Area, 485 Engineering Installation Group, and finally Air Force Research Laboratory (Rome Lab) as an electronics engineer, retiring in 2010.
Bill was a collector of many things, including 1920's radios, American Flyer Train sets and railroad lanterns. He bowled for many years and enjoyed going to estates sales every weekend. He loved to tinker, especially on his four 1928 Studebakers, which were in various states of repair.
Bill is survived by his loving companion of over 20 years, Elizabeth Kean of Rome; her sister's family whom Bill considered his own, Margaret and Mike Schutten and their children, Daniel and Michelle of Schenectady; and his close friends, Russ and Sue Steenrod of Merrimack, NH and Clarence Farrier of Rome.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 9th at 6 PM at the Barry Funeral Home, 807. W. Chestnut Street.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 6 PM, prior to the service.
