Sylvia C. Guarini, age 78, of Rome, died on January 9, 2018 at Rome Memorial Hospital.
Sylvia was born in Utica on March 18, 1939, to the late Joseph and Lucia Correnti Caruso. She graduated from Proctor High School and afterwards, Eric County Technical Institute and Utica College. On November 18, 1961, she married Joseph D. Guarini in Utica. She worked as a dental hygienist and substitute teacher in the Rome Public schools.
Sylvia is survived by her husband, Joseph, of Rome; a daughter, Christine Guarini of San Diego, CA; a son and daughter in law, Mark and Krista Guarini of Darien, CT; and four grandchildren, Jaclyn and Stephen Palumbo, and Daniel and Benjamin Guarini. She was predeceased by four brothers, Henry, Philip, Harold, and Dr. Mario Caruso; and a sister, Mary Gentile.
A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Paul's Church on Friday at 10:30 AM.
There are no calling hours.
