Obituary of Harlow F. Rasha

Harlow F. Rasha, age 84, of Rome, passed away peacefully, May 11, 2012, with his loving family at his side, after a long illness. He was born January 29, 1928, in Lee Center, a son of Earl L. and Ella Russell Rasha, and graduated from Rome Free Academy and the Rome Trade School. Harlow was united in marriage to the former Shirley Eychner on October 30, 1948, in Verona. He worked for years as a machinist and plant superintendent for the former Kent Co., Pettibone Corp and Inductotec, until his retirement. He proudly served in the Army Air Corps, and was a crew member of a group that tracked and flew through hurricanes and other severe weather conditions. Harlow was active in the community and served as a member and former President for the Rome Optimist Club, active member of Rome Little League Baseball and served as a mentor in the Rome Junior Achievement Program. Harlow is survived by his wife of 64 years, Shirley; two sons and a daughter in law, Gary Rasha of Rome and Rick and Kathy Rasha of Camden; grandchildren, Heather and Mike Andrewski, Jeffrey and Laura Rasha, Chad Rasha, and Ryan and Tara Nutting; great grandson, Nolan Andrewski; a brother and sister in law, Bernard and Donna Rasha; and sister in law, Mona Rasha. He was predeceased by a brother, Kenneth Rasha and a daughter in law, Carol Rasha. The funeral service will be held Wednesday at 3:00 PM at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home, Wednesday 1 to 3 PM, prior to the funeral service.
