Rudolph "Rudy" N. Perella, age 89, of Cicero, passed away peacefully at home on August 1, 2017. He was born October 1, 1927, in Pittsburgh, PA, a son of the late Carmine and Mary Desalvo Perella. Rudy was united in marriage to the former Gladys J. Kenny, on February 4, 1949; she died July 30, 1984. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy and Air Force; serving in WW II, Korea and Vietnam, retiring after 22 years of service. He later worked as an electronics engineer for GEEIA at Griffiss Air Force Base. Rudy was a true sports enthusiast, enjoying softball, bowling and target shooting with his brothers and son. Rudy is survived by his son David, Lieutenant Colonel, USAF retired, and his wife Michele Charney Perella of Cicero; grandchildren Jennifer Perella and Danny Hodel; great grandson Samuel; a brother in law Frank Kenny; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Ronald, his sister Olga, and 5 brothers, Joe, Gene, Al, Carly and Jimmy. The funeral service will be held Friday at 1:00 PM at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Burial with Military Honors, will be in St. Peter's Cemetery in Utica where Rudy will rest beside his beloved wife Gladys. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 11 AM to 1 PM, prior to the funeral service.
