Laurie L. Slaga, age 43, of Watson Hollow Road, passed away April 10, 2009, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
She was born January 13, 1966, in Oneida, the daughter of Edward and Joan Hatch Seelman, and graduated from VVS. Laurie was united in marriage to Richard J. Slaga, on May 24, 1997, on the family farm. She was a LPN and was employed by the CNYDSO in Utica.
Laurie is survived by her husband, Richard; her father, Edward; sons, Richard J. Sommers, serving with the U. S. Marines in Iraq, and Patrick R. Slaga, at home; two brothers and a sister in law, Michael Seelman of Poland, and Steve and Carm Seelman of Remsen; nieces and a nephew, Michael Jr, and Dana Seelman and Rachel Seelman; and a great niece, Layla; and several cousins. She was predeceased by her mother, Joan.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday at 9:00 PM at Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 AM at Floyd Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home, Tuesday 6 to 9 PM, prior to the funeral service.
