Please share a memory of Leona to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Leona S. Marcyoniak, age 71, of Utica, passed away on December 29, 2016. Leona was born on April 5, 1945 in Westfield, Massachusetts to Freeman Savey and Laura Marcyoniak. She moved to the Rome State School in 1953. Leona joined the York Street IRA family (in Utica) in 2011. Leona enjoyed owls which was the main theme in her bedroom decorations. Music was an important part of Leona's life - whether listening to other people singing around her, listening to music from any source, or singing herself. Her favorites were the oldies and country music. Leona also liked to hold hands with people and to have her hair brushed. Thank you to all those in Leona's York Street family who provided her with love and compassionate care, especially during her last illness and a thank you to Hospice. Also, a thank you to those who cared for Leona at Marcy Day Habilitation. Funeral services will be held on January 4, 2017 at 11:30 am at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street, Rome. Burial will be in Rome Cemetery in the spring. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home from 10:30am to 11:30am prior to the service.
