Gordon W. Maikranz Gordon W. Maikranz, age 56, of Blossvale, died suddenly March 1, 2009. He was born December 9, 1952, in Utica, a son of Donald and June Woolheater Maikranz, and educated in Utica schools. Gordon was united in marriage to the former Christine Swiech on December 1, 1979, in Clinton, NY. He was employed at Daimler Buses of North America Inc in Oriskany for 13 years. He was a volunteer Chaplin at Marcy Correctional Facility where the testimony of his life was a great influence to the inmates. He was a member of Life Church for 21 years where he was a Sunday School teacher. Though Gordy was not blessed with children of his own, he was a father figure to many at Church. Gordy encouraged all he came in contact with his gift of making people laugh even during the hardest of times. Gordy is survived by his beloved wife of 29 years, Christine; his father Don Maikranz; sisters, Cindy Smith and her husband, Lynn, Lory Maikranz, Wendy Knox and her husband Ron, and Darlene Maikranz; brothers, Carey (Carol) Maikranz and Kevin Maikranz; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. The funeral service will be held Thursday at 5:00 PM at Life Church. Relatives and friends may call at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street, Wednesday 4 to 8 PM. Gordy will be remembered by the countless people whose lives he touched with the love of God.
