Obituary of John D. Belensky

John D. Belensky, age 78 of Lee Center, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2016 at Rome Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
John was born in Taylor, PA on November 2, 1937 to the late John and Mary Dorin Belensky. He graduated from Rome Free Academy in 1957. On September 17, 1966, John was united in marriage to the former Marlene Paniccia. John worked as a machinist at Bartell Machinery for many years until his retirement.
John was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed cars and model trains as well as skiing. In his earlier years, John raced boats. He was a member of St. Joseph's Church.
John is survived by his loving wife, Marlene; his two sons, Ronald Belensky of Mesa, AZ and Robert Belensky of Willimgton, NY; two sisters in law, Sue Hoke and Tonia McCully; a brother and sister in law, Santo (Sam) and Sandy Paniccia; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his in laws, Frank and Angeline Paniccia; and two brothers in law, Duncan McCully and James Hoke.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at 12 PM at St. Joseph's Church with Father Robert Kelly officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
There are no calling hours.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to John's niece, Kristin Sullivan, for her care and compassion shown to John and the family during his illness.
