Obituary of Austin E

Austin E. Stalnaker, age 53, of Rome, passed away peacefully, January 28, 2012. He was born August 1, 1958, in Rome, a son of Austin C. and Helen C. Arbogast Stalnaker, and educated in Holland Patent, and Elkins, W.VA. , schools, and Davis and Elkins College, in Elkins, W. VA. Austin was united in marriage to the former Cindy Jackson, on April 9, 1979, in Elkins, W. Virginia. He was employed as a department manager at WalMart in Rome. Among his many interests and hobbies, his great love was the game of "Scrabble", where he often competed as a tournament "Scrabble" player. Austin is survived by his wife, Cindy; two daughters and a son in law, Marion and Lloyd McClendon of Rome, and Crystal Stalnaker of Stittville; a son and daughter in law, Timothy and Laura Stalnaker of Westernville; and six grandchildren, Tyrell, Devon, Dynell and Arianna McClendon and Mateo and Aliya Stalnaker. The funeral service will be held Wednesday at 6:00 PM, at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home, Wednesday 3 to 6 PM, prior to the funeral service. Special thanks for all their support to Chris Lipe, Joseph Bowman and Denise Dixon. Special thanks for great care and support to Dr. Dilip Kachare, Hospice, Dr. Butala and staff, and J. Bellino of Kunkel. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care.
