Obituary of Betty O. Riegler

Betty O. Riegler, age 90, of Rome, passed away peacefully, April 3, 2014, at the Eastern Star Home, with her loving family at her side. She was born June 25, 1923, in Rome a daughter of the late Morton and Daisy Lavender Pelton, and educated in Rome schools. Betty was united in marriage to Arthur O'Connor, on October 7, 1939, in St. Peter's Church; he died in 1978. She later married Paul Riegler, on January 24, 1981; he died in 2007. She was a member of St. Peter's Church, a former member of the Lee Legion Post 1794 Auxiliary, Annsville Friendship Club and Lake Delta Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star # 590. Betty is survived by a son and daughter in law, John and Darlene O'Connor of Whitesboro; four daughters and sons in law, Joan and James Dunn of Rome, Sally Haley of Camden, Bettymary and Kenneth Sutton of Boynton Beach, FL, and Colleen and Mike Dunn of Rome; step-daughter and husband, Beverly and James Salisbury of Rome; a sister and brother in law, Gladys and Fred Jackson of Rome; a sister in law, Sue Pelton of Rome; several grand and great grandchildren and a great great granddaughter, Eleanor Marie Mack. She is predeceased by brothers, Wesley, Lester, Ernest, Wiley and Lyle Pelton; son in law, William Haley; a great grandson, Michael Testa and stepsons, Robert and William Riegler. Funeral services will be held Monday at 9:45 AM from the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street and a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM at St. Peter's Church. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Sunday 2 to 5 PM.
