Obituary of Margaret L. Morrell

Please share a memory of Margaret to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Margaret L. Morrell, age 79, of Rome, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2024, at the Wynn Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

Born on April 23, 1944, in Rome, she was the daughter of Michael and Rosilind Griffin Hall. On June 2, 1962, Margaret was united in marriage to James Morrell, and they were married for 61 years. Margaret worked as a nursing assistant for several years at Betsy Ross Nursing Home. When her three grandchildren were born, she yearned to help care for them and it was the most rewarding job of her life. She was passionate about taking care of others and wanted to help people in any way that she could. Although she was a short “little” lady, she was full of life, spunk, and had the biggest heart. Margaret was adored by all that knew her and had a beautiful smile, infectious laugh, and loving presence.

Margaret enjoyed gardening and tending to her beautiful flower gardens. She cherished all times spent with her family and friends, especially her daughter, Bobbi, and grandchildren, Sierra, Lindsey, and James. She was thrilled to become a great grandma to Mavi and loved being her “Gigi.”  Her family was what she adored most in life. She enjoyed singing and listening to old country music and was a big fan of the show Yellowstone.

Margaret is survived by her loving husband, Jim; daughter, Roberta "Bobbi" (Ronald) Striker of Lee Center; grandchildren, Sierra (James) Chubbuck, Lindsey (Daniel) Hale, and James (Tiana Martinez) Striker; great grandchild, Mavi Hale; sister, Patricia (Renick) Hendren; her fur-baby, Mylo; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Michael and James Hall.

Funeral services will be private.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street.
