Wayne “Obbie” P. Riedel, age 90, of Rome, passed away on March 29, 2024, at Rome Health.

Wayne was born in Rome on April 28, 1933 to the late Frank and Francis Mautner Riedel and educated in the Rome Schools. He worked in the family business, Riedel’s Dairy, in his early years and retired from the Rome City School District where he was a janitor. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He was united in marriage to the former Beverly King.

Wayne loved camping and travelling with Bev. They took many trips by car and motorcycle and could usually be found on a motorcycle if the weather was good.

Wayne is survived by his loving wife, Bev; daughter, Lisa Streck and her family of Palm Bay, FL; sister, Susan (Thomas) McDaniel of Lake of the Woods, VA; sisters in law, Patricia Riedel and Arlene Riedel, Carolyn (Claude) DiMauro, and Tricia (Bill) Hysell; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Donald, Raymond, and Richard.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 8, at 1 PM at the Barry Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home from 12 Noon to 1 PM prior to the funeral.
