Obituary of Russell M. Smith

Russell M. Smith, age 71, of North Bay, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2023.

He was born July 19, 1952, in Boonville, a son of the late Elmer A. and Evelyn Fox Smith.  Russell was united in marriage to the former Laurie M. Butler, on August 31, 1969, at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church.  He was a retired union carpenter.  He was a member of the Camden Rod and Gun Club where he served as safety officer, and served on the policy council at Head Start.

Russell enjoyed many hobbies and activities.  He was an avid hunter and great builder and collector of WW I and World War II ship models, and the history about them.

Russell is survived by his loving wife, Laurie; daughters, Tracey (Jamie) Pitoniak of Cleveland, NY, Heather (Ryan) Morgan of Sebastin, FL, Pamela (James) Evans of Canastota, NY, Jennifer Koegel of Lee Center, NY, and Krista (Joshua) Johnson of Taberg; a sister, Sylvia Person of Stewart, TN; a brother, David E. (Carolyn) Smith of Williston, FL; 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.  He was predeceased by his parents, Elmer and Evelyn; brothers, Timothy and Nathan Smith; and nephews, Christopher Smith and James Redford.

The funeral service will be held Thursday at 6:00 PM, at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street.  Burial will be in McConnellsville Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home, on Thursday from 4 to 6 PM, prior to the funeral service.
