Obituary of Rudolph H. Roberts
Rudolph H. Roberts, age 93, left this adventure on December 6th, 2023.
He was born on March 21, 1930 in Sullivan, NY to the late Harlow and Ida Cooper Roberts. He was united in marriage to the former Doris Jones whom passed away on July 3, 1978. Rudy spent his work career as a meat cutter, retiring from Acme Markets, but then continuing with Gillette’s, Adolfi’s, and Lombino’s in Rome before finally retiring for good at 62.
Rudy was an avid hobbyist, trying his hand at gardening, antique collecting, photography, painting, baking, and much more. He loved his daily walks around Westernville and visiting with his neighbors. He was a lover of nature and was happiest outdoors. He was a bit of an adventurer, going on hikes in the Adirondacks, Alaska, a solo hike in Colorado, whitewater rafting, sled dog riding, and anything else he was able to try!
Surviving is his sister, Alice (Bertha Weiss); five children, Heather Roberts of WA, Mark (Lorraine) Roberts of CO, Heidi Roberts of WA, Beth Olmsted of MI, and Holly (Frank) Gentile of Rome; grandchildren, Abbey Danner, Amy Jones, Jonathan Roberts, Sarah Rice, Tammy Runstrom, and Chris Gentile; and his favorite grand-dog, Dixie. Rudy was preceded in death by his three sisters, Rita, Naomi, and Rose; and a brother, Charles.
The family would like to thank the staff of Bethany Gardens, especially the 3rd floor, for their loving care and support over the past few months.
A graveside service will be held in Westernville Cemetery in the spring.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street.
