Obituary of Paul M. Conover
Paul “Buck” M. Conover, age 65, of Rome, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 16, 2023, with his loving wife by his side, at Wynn Hospital, after a brief battle with esophageal cancer.
Paul was born in Rome on September 19, 1958 to the late Russell and Jean Caron Conover, and graduated from VVS High School. On October 17, 1998, he was united in marriage to the former Lauri Beach. He retired from the Walmart Distribution Center in Marcy where he worked as a yard driver, and for over 30 years he was also a bartender at the Stanwix Veterans and Men's Club.
Paul was a life member of both the Stanwix Veterans and Men's Club and the Ukrainian Club. He cherished his family and friends and especially loved his grandchildren who brought him great pride and joy. He also enjoyed playing pitch with the family and was known as the "designated distractor," because Buck loved to talk.
Paul is survived by his loving wife, Lauri; sons, Devon (Nicole) Malone of Holland Patent, and Paul Conover of Lowville; grandchildren, Ethney and Riley Conover, and Molly and Marrok Malone; sisters, Patricia Conover, and Leslie DeWolfe; sisters in law, Patricia Conover, Kim Beach, and Judy Sadlowski; brother-in-law, Scott (Melanie) Beach; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Russell "Snook" Conover.
In keeping with Paul's wishes, there are no formal services.
The family would like to extend a sincere thanks and appreciation to Kim, Judy, Leslie, and Dave Kimball for their care, compassion and help during Paul's illness.
