Leonard E. Converse, Jr., age 84, of Rome, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 5, 2023, at SUNY Upstate University Hospital.

Leonard was born in Rome on August 24, 1939 to the late Leonard and Glendean Riggleman Converse.   On November 11, 1965, he was united in marriage to the former Marian Powers, in St. Paul's Church; a blessed union of over 51 years until her passing on April 15, 2017.

Leonard worked at Rome Labs from 1964 until his retirement in 1996.

He enjoyed golf, bowling and spending time with his family.

Leonard is survived by his son, Michael (Heaven Boyle) Converse of Rome; grandchildren, Maria, Devin, Damian, and Giovanna; sister, Cindy (Rick) Smith; brothers, Radford (Janice) Converse, Ed (Nikki) Converse, and Jeff (Donna) Converse; and nieces Amy, Nicky, Lee, Tracy, Cassy, Shelly, Laura and Chelsey; and nephews Trevor, Travis and Chris; and many cousins.

Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 AM at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 10 to 11 AM prior to the service
