Sandra J. LaVine, age 90, formerly of Rome, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2023, at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital.

Sandra was born in Syracuse on September 3, 1933, to the late Wilton and Gertrude Bullis Swindon. On March 16, 1951, she was united in marriage to John H. LaVine; a blessed union of 64 years until his passing on October 8, 2015. She worked for Lockheed Martin as a lab technician.

Sandra was an avid reader and enjoyed going camping with John.

Sandra is survived by her daughters, Debra (Jack) Ungleich, Michele LaRoy, Carolyn (Randy) Smith, Linda (Alan) Davies, and Sandra (Rick) Stoquert; her sons, John LaVine, Stephen LaVine, and Christopher (Amanda Ward) LaVine; sixteen grandchildren; many great and great, great grandchildren; her sister, Polly Wickham; her brother, George (Diane) Swindon; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her grandchildren, Lyndsay Van Wie and Michael Davies; her great, great grandson, Kevin Sherman, Jr.; and her brother Richard “Dick” Swindon.

Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Memorial donations may be made to the Make a Wish Foundation.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street.
