Obituary of Cecil E. Bunal
Cecil E. Bunal, age 94, of Rome, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2023, with his loving family at his side.
He was born July 2, 1929, in Rome, a son of the late Stanley and Tekla Jerecki Bunal, and educated in Holland Patent schools. Cecil was united in marriage to the former Cecelia Taylor on February 18, 1950, a blessed marriage of 71 years; she died on September 14, 2021. He served as a foreman at Rome Strip Steel, retiring after 42 years of service.
Cecil was a man a great faith and was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church, Lee Center, and a member of the Rome Polish Home. He was a wonderful husband and father. He loved farming, camping, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, and enjoyed being outdoors. He enjoyed gardening and would share his vegetables with friends and family. After retirement, Cecelia and him traveled all over the United States.
Cecil is survived by his children, Susan McBain of Rome, Diane (Robert) Hoag of Lee Center, Lisa (Anthony) Zimecki of Rome, Alan (Jane) Bunal of Conway, SC, and Eric (Melissa Sprague) Bunal of Rome; daughter in law, Cyndy Bunal; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son, James Bunal, granddaughter, Dana Matt; sisters, Clara, Mary, Julie, Ann, and Josephine; brothers, Frank, Joe, John, Vincent, Leo, Carle, Peter, Martin, Felix, Anthony, and Andrew; and son in law, Timothy McBain.
A mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday at 11 AM, at St Joseph’s Church, Lee Center. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street, 807 W. Chestnut Street, on Tuesday from 4 to 7 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bill Gavin Food Pantry at St. Joseph’s Church and/or the Lake Delta Fire Department.
