Obituary of Herman Victor Cadrette

Herman “Herky” V. Cadrette, age 89, formerly of Taberg, passed away on April 19, 2023, at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse.

Herky was born in Rome on January 11, 1934 to the late Willard and Emma Merchant Cadrette, and educated in the Rome Schools. On January 10, 1956, he was united in marriage to the former Carol A. Tritsch; a blessed union of over 62 years until her passing on August 7, 2018. He retired from Rome Strip Steel where he worked as a machine operator.

Herky enjoyed the outdoors and took pride in his lawn and landscape. He was a life member of the Ukrainian Club, and a member of the Stanwix Men’s Club.

Herky is survived by his daughter, Donna Needham of Fayetteville; his sons, Danny (Gina) Cadrette of Rome, Timothy Cadrette of Brentwood, CA, and David Cadrette of Buckeye, AZ; his grandchildren, Michael Cadrette, Jaime (Hugh) Reed, Ryan (Alhondra) Cadrette, Tiffany (Andrew) Thurber, Brandon Cadrette, Cierra (Tyler Arnold) Cadrette, Allison Cadrette, Andre Cadrette, and Emma Cadrette; his great grandchildren, Anthony, Allison, Hugh Patrick, Isaiah, William, Darcy, and Alexander; his brothers, Wayne Cadrette, Marvin Cadrette, and Wayne (Cindy) Beasock; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his sister, Jeanne Cadrette; and his brother, Willard Cadrette.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, at 11 AM at St. Peter’s Church. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street, on Tuesday from 4 to 6 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
