Gene was best friends with Mike Kapps. They called each other brother. They worked at Rome Strip Steel together. In their younger days they spent a lot of time at Coalyards. They spoke 2 or 3 times a week on the phone.
When Gene retired and opened Happy Valley on James Street they spent time having coffee and discussing different wine recipes.. They discussed produce, the best way to grow vegetables and compared their results.
I’m sure they are together now in heaven.
