Obituary of Roger L. Fahey

Roger L. Fahey, age 84, formerly of Holland Patent, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2023, at Bethany Gardens in Rome.

Roger was born in Rome on June 11, 1938, to the late Milo and Edna Nessel Fahey. He earned his Associate’s Degree from the University of Maryland. He was formerly married to the late Miyoko Sasaki Fahey; she passed away on March 26, 2017. Roger proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, retiring after 20 years of service. He then worked as a nurse’s aide at Marcy Correctional Facility. 

Roger is survived by his daughter and son in law, Akemi and Robert Rinelli of Moyock, NC; his sons and daughter in law, Lawrence and Marilyn Fahey of Owego, NY, and Foster Fahey of Sauquoit; his grandchildren, Tricia (Brandon) Hamrick, Alia (Kai) Fahey, Garrett Fahey, Benjamin (Katrina) Rinelli, and Harrison (Heather) Rinelli; three great grandchildren, Shawn Fahey, Lucas Caridi, and Oliver Rinelli; his sister Phyllis Patenaude; his K-9 companion, Chubby; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Robert; his sisters, Elaine Nicotera and Gail Mullen; and his brother, Patrick Fahey. 

Funeral services with military honors will be on Friday, March 24, 2023, at 6 PM, at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. 

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 6 PM prior to the funeral.
