George T. Ervin, age 62, of Verona, passed away peacefully at The Grand on November 23, 2022.

George was born in Queens on October 22, 1960 to the late William and Ann Oliver Ervin. On September 3, 1987, he was united in marriage to the former Dorothy Bennett. George was employed at MVHS-St. Luke’s Campus as a patient transporter.

George enjoyed sports, especially football, basketball and baseball, and he also coached little league and pop warner. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge. 

George is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy; his daughter, Sarah (Johnny) Ervin of Sacramento, CA; his sons, Justin Ervin of Staten Island, NY, Sean (Hillary) Ervin of Jacksonville, FL, and Brian Ervin of Verona; his grandchildren, Shawn, Sophia, Scarlett, Bennett, and one granddaughter on the way; his sisters, Nora (Warren Lyons) Ervin, Velma (late Mitchell) Sadio, Sandra (Ronald) Pope, Margaret (Linda) Means-Ervin, his brothers, James (Yvonne) Ervin, Bruce Ervin, and Craig (Linda) Smith; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Rona Ervin; and his brother William Ervin.

George’s funeral will be held on Friday at 6 PM, at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 6 PM prior to the funeral.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
