Obituary of Pamela A. Culbertson
Dr. Pamela A. Culbertson, age 58, of Rome, passed away peacefully at Rome Health on November 20, 2022, after a brief battle with cancer.
Pam was born in Rome on April 16, 1964 to Anthony and Theresa Mazzacua (formerly known as Theresa Schraml). She earned her Ph.D. in Instructional Technology from SUNY Albany in 2017. On August 11, 1984, she was united in marriage to James Culbertson at St. Paul’s Church in Rome. Pam was currently employed by OCM BOCES in Syracuse as a data coordinator.
Pam was a caring and devoted wife and mother who had a positive outlook in life. She always thought the best for her children. She loved to travel, especially by train and to visit her grandchildren. She adored her grandchildren and always had fun projects and adventures planned for them.
Pam was an active member of St. Paul’s Church and the community. She had an inspirational passion for lifelong learning and education. She earned several degrees and certifications. She was always willing to help and teach others, including tutoring students at MVCC. She was very active and full of energy. She enjoyed dancing, running, biking, and going on walks.
Pam is survived by her loving husband, Jim; her mother, Theresa; her daughter, Michelle (Paul) Sisneros; her son, David Culbertson; two grandchildren, Samuel and Alice; her sister Tracy Gleason, her sister Dr. Andrea (Dr. Robert) Setlik; her brother, Douglas (Flor) Mazzacua; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was predeceased by her father, Anthony, in 2017.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday at 11 AM at St. Paul’s Church, with the Rev. Robert L. Kelly officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street, on Tuesday from 4 to 7 PM.
