Obituary of William J. Hahn
William J. Hahn, age 83, of Blossvale, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2022.
He was born July 15, 1939, in Rome, a son of the late John and Irene Tuthill Hahn, and graduated from Rome Free Academy in 1956. Bill was employed at Revere Copper Products, retiring in 1999.
Bill was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on January 1, 1983. He was active in congregation for 39 years, engaging in the “house to house” ministry, helping with Kingdom Hall renovations and construction projects. He served as an elder in the North Rome congregation, giving talks on Bible subjects in many congregations throughout Central New York. He took the lead in ministry on Monday mornings for many years.
Bill was gifted with wood working projects and mechanical projects as well. He restored two ½ HP hit & miss engines, circa 1915, to working order. He enjoyed old cars, tractors and frequently visited auto museums and attended antique car and tractor shows. He was also very knowledgeable about local railroad history.
Bill is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Gloria Hahn; sister, Susan Brown; and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Janice Elizabeth Hahn, and Lucinda Hahn.
The funeral service will be held Friday at 2:00 PM, at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, 12 Noon to 2 PM, prior to the funeral service.
