Wilma Casanova passed into God’s hands early in the morning on October 3, 2022 at the age of 95. She was born March 28, 1927 in Fenimore, New York, the daughter of the late Leonard and Daisy Smith Goodrich. She was a graduate of Syracuse University. On January 29, 1952 she married Stuart G. Casanova and moved Rome.

Wilma was the mother of four children: Stephen Casanova, Mary (Dale) Ouderkirk, Susan Casanova, and Elaine (Gerry) Przybylski; the grandmother of five: Julie, Kari, Sara, Rebecca, and Rachel: and the great-grandmother of four: Luke, Julia, Maria and Thomas. She was predeceased by her parents, her brother Bill Goodrich, and sister Wanda Witt.

Wilma was always an active church member, starting at First Methodist Church in Hudson Falls, NY, then Delta Methodist, Calvary Methodist and finally St. John’s Lutheran Church, holding many offices and positions. In her younger days she was a full-time mother, Sunday School teacher, Girl Scout leader, and played many parts at Rome Community Theater. She was also health and science teacher at Rome Free Academy for 30 years, and a 50-year member of the Wednesday Morning Club.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
