Obituary of Anthony E. Osinski

Please share a memory of Anthony to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Anthony Edward “Tony” Osinski, 82, of Rome, NY passed away peacefully on February 5, 2022 at the Abraham House in Rome, surrounded by family.

Tony was born on October 26, 1939, the middle child of three, in the coal mining town of Shenandoah, PA. He attended Pennsylvania State University, graduating with a degree in electrical engineering. He began working at the Rome Air Development Center, later redesignated Rome Laboratory, where he built an admirable 38-year career conducting research and development for the Air Force, helping to protect the United States not with his might, but with his intellect. A continual learner, he completed a Master of Science in Systems Management through the University of Southern California.

In 1979, Tony met the love of his life, Barbara, and they were married on May 23, 1981. Together, they would raise three children, and go on to become “Papa” and “Mimi” to three grandchildren. Tony and Barbara recently celebrated forty years of marriage. Tony derived great joy from his family, always putting them first. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing and hunting, as well as golf and bowling. He will be remembered for balancing integrity and diligence with warmth, humility, and humor; we will all miss his unique brand of “dad jokes.”

Tony was predeceased by his parents, Anthony and Mildred, his brother, Peter, and a beloved niece, Millie. He is survived by his sister, Mary, his wife and best friend, Barbara, his children, William (Monica), Theresa Lennon (Timothy), and Anthony (Rachel), his grandchildren, Ashton, Aurélia, and Clara, and several nieces and nephews, all of whom he adored.

Tony’s family would like to extend a special thank you to all of the staff and hospice providers at The Abraham House for their tender and attentive care.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday at 1:00 PM, at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home from 11 AM to 1 PM, prior to the funeral service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Abraham House (theabrahamhouse.org) or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (stjude.org).

May we all heed the command he often implored his loved ones: “Take care of each other.”
