Obituary of Dorothy E. Jones

Dorothy E. Jones, age 73, of Rome, passed away on January 30, 2022 at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center.

Dorothy was born in Gallion, AL on November 30, 1948 to the late Horace and Octavia (Robertson) Bryant. On August 20, 1971, she was united in marriage to Melvyn Jones. Dorothy worked as a mental health aide at the Marcy Psych Center.

Dorothy was a loving person and that was expressed through her caring of others. She was a firm believer in God and treated everyone with love and compassion.

Dorothy is survived by her loving husband, Melvyn; her daughter, Jamila Jones; her son, Dametrias Jones both of Rome; six grandchildren, Makalah, De’Antae, Damahri, Zakiya, Jayla, and Ryland; five sisters, Patricia Bryant of Rome, Eunice Hill of AL, Sadie Lomax of NC, Angela Matthews of GA, and Christine Jones of AL; a brother, Levy Lomax of AL; and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street today (Thursday) from 4 to 6 PM

Burial will be in Saratoga National Cemetery in the spring.
