Obituary of Joan A. Sherwood

Joan A. Sherwood, age 75, of the Town of Lee, passed away peacefully at home on December 18, 2020.

Joan was born in Rome on May 17, 1945 to the late Walter and Mary Zawaly Kran, and graduated from West Leyden High School. She worked for many years as a custodian at SUNY IT in Marcy.

Joan was a member of the New Testament Church. She enjoyed gardening, mowing, and taking care of her home. She was always willing to help anyone in need in any way that she could.

Joan is survived by her two sons, Darren (Beth) Sherwood of Camden, and Duane (Anna) Sherwood of Rome; two grandchildren, Madison Sherwood, and Jordan Hall; a sister, Linda (Richard) Jerosko; and several nieces and nephews, especially Kim and Keith Wishart, who was always there to help Joan out when needed. She was predeceased by a sister, Connie Watson; and a brother, Walter Kran.

A private graveside service will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery in the spring.

There are no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
