Obituary of Shirley A. Campbell

Shirley A. Campbell, age 85, of the Town of Lee, passed away peacefully on November 11, 2020.

 

She was born September 2, 1935, a daughter of the late Alfred J. and Mary F. Murphy Baker.  She graduated from St. Aloysius Academy and the Utica School of Commerce.  Shirley was united in marriage to Earl Campbell, on September 1, 1956, in St. Peter’s Church.  She formerly worked at the Beeches, and operated a tax preparation service with her sister Naomi and later her own service.  She was member of St. Peter’s Church.

 

Shirley’s first love was her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She was an avid golfer and a lover of country music.

 

Shirley is survived by her husband, Earl; two sons, Brian and Michele Campbell of Rome, and Keith Campbell and Ruth Stewart of Richfield Springs; a brother and sister in law, Edwin and Gail Baker of Rome; grandchildren, Jessica, Heather, Michael C., Sarah, Michael G and Jenae; great grandchildren, McKenzie, Gabriella, Ariannah and Bentley.  She was predeceased by a daughter, Brenda Grogan, sisters, Beatrice Burke, Naomi Byrne, Marion Burns and Joanne Terry, and brothers, Alfred, Robert and Paul Baker.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11:00 AM, at St. Peter’s Church.  Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

 

Relatives and friends may call at Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street, on Monday from 4 to 7 PM.  Please wear masks and adhere to covid-19 recommendations and social distancing at the funeral home and church.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to the Lake Delta Fire Department.
