Diane E. Keels, age 58, of Rome, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2020, at MVHS-St. Luke’s Campus.

 

Diane was born in Syracuse on July 11, 1961 to Clifford and Wanda Curtis. Diane worked at SavOn as a customer service associate. She was united in marriage to Melven Keels on April 8, 1989 in Rochester, NY. She enjoyed cooking, baking, writing recipes, watching cooking shows, selling and making jewelry, spending time with her grandchildren, children, and husband. Diane loved going to church, going for walks, fishing, loved watching wrestling, coloring, crossword puzzles, and reading books.

 

She was a very strong, beautiful woman who cherished and loved her children and grandchildren and making memories with them. She loved her husband with whom she shared 31 years of marriage with. She was also part of the Oneida Indian Nation.

 

Diane is survived by her loving husband, Melven; her children, Rachael Curtis, Robin Studer, Jerry Morris, Aleasa Keels, and Kelvin Keels; her father, Clifford (Lorraine) Curtis; a stepdaughter, Christina Keels; grandchildren, Jordan Morris, Diane Morris-Smith, Mya Morris, Elaine Studer, Stephanie Morris, Elisabeth Morris, Kyasia Blackshear, Wayne Studer, Jerry Morris III, Jovani Morris, Joshia Morris, Gerald Morris-Smith, Xander Morris, Quazier Savage; step grandchildren, Gionna, Amaya, Jase, Olivia, Milliana , Milliah , Allena; a step brother, Edward Reisinger; an aunt, Edith Bisbo; and many cousins and close friends in Rome and Rochester. She was predeceased by her grandmother, Rachael Curtis, who raised her as her own; a son, Melven Keels; and an aunt, Joyce Scott.

 

Funeral services at this time will be private for the family. A Memorial service will take place after the COVID-19 restrictions are lifted.
