Mary Lou Coleman, age 74 of Rome passed away peacefully on May 2, 2020, from leukemia, with her daughter, Melanie, by her side. 

 

She was born February 2, 1946 in Rome, the daughter of Elmer L. and Mary Elizabeth Brownell Sasenbury. She was educated in Rome schools. Mary Lou married the love of her life John T. Coleman Jr. on February 14, 1994; sadly she lost him to cancer on February 27, 2018.

 

She worked for Rome Cable Corp for 29 years and later worked and retired from the CNYDSO in Rome. She was a faithful member of Trinity United Church of Christ and active in many of the churches organizations.

 

She was passionate about her family and friends, as well as her “pups” Bekah and Rusty. She loved to garden and grow all types of flowers and plants, and she could cook and bake like no other. To most who knew her, she was “mom.” She had a special bond with her grandchildren and was proud of their accomplishments.

 

Mary Lou is survived by her children, Melanie and Robert Glur, Jr. of Taberg, Gilbert “Chip” and Monica Revette of Oneida, Tom and Darlene Revette of Rome, Daniel and Tracie Revette of Taberg, Cathleen May of Moira and Theresa and Mark Destito of Lee Center, John Charles and Fiona Coleman of  Fairfax, VA, John and Shari Ramsey of Floyd, Jerome Ramsey of Rome, Wayne Ramsey of Oriskany, and Randy and Julie Ramsey of Floyd; sisters, Diane Shannon of Rome, Edna and Bruce Owens of Taberg, and Marie Sasenbury of Rome; brothers, David and Renee Sasenbury of Missouri and Carl Sasenbury of Rome, 19 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She is predeceased by a daughter, Jacqueline Coleman; and three brothers, Warren, Arthur, and Edward Sasenbury.

 

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, funeral services will be held at a later date.  Burial will be in Townsend Cemetery.

 

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Barry Funeral Home, 807 West Chestnut Street.
