John Edward Lohr, Sr., age 78, of Lee Center, passed away peacefully at his home on March 20, 2020, with his loved ones by his side.

 

John was born in Rome on April 6, 1941 to the late Erwin and Shirley Lohr Sochia, and attended the V-V-S Schools. On May 14, 1983, he was united in marriage to the former Patricia G. Patrick. John grew up working on farms, and from 1964 to 2000 he worked at Rome Strip Steel. After his retirement, he worked for CRM in Rome and then for the D.E.C. in northern New York.

 

John enjoyed snowmobiling, four-wheeling, camping, and traveling. He hunted, fished, and trapped all his life, and got his trophy deer while in Kansas, which was his pride and joy of hunting. He spent most of his free time with family and friends. He adored his grandchildren, great grandchildren, and his golden retriever, Rudy, who went everywhere he could with John and the family. John was also a life member of the Boonville Elks Club.

 

John is survived by his loving wife, Patricia; two daughters, Crystal(William "Bill") Brower of Lee Center, and Kimberly (Russell) Cornell of Nichols, NY; three sons, John Jr. (Stacy) Lohr of Rome, Scott (Barbara) Edwards of Frankfort, NY, and Christopher Edwards of Rome; 15 grandchildren, 13 great, grandchildren; sisters in law, Berniece (Ronald) Kiser, Sandie Sochia, Rosemarie Chapple, Kathy (George) Kent; and Elaine Phillips; a brother in law, Keith (Donna) Patrick; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Margaret Rutz; and two brothers, Russell and Walter Sochia.

 

Funeral services will be private. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

 

Memorial contributions in John's name may be made to the Lee Center Volunteer Fire Department.

 

Arrangements are entrusted to the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street.
