Obituary of Edward Taylor
Edward Taylor passed away on March 14, 2020.
He was born December 11, 1958 in Bronx, New York. Ed or Eddie, as he liked to be called, resided at IRA 1, 5974 Old Oneida Road, Rome. Ed was a friendly man who enjoyed interaction with all around him. He had a smile that could light up a room. He was very sociable. He had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh and joke. He enjoyed helping others. He especially loved pizza with anchovies. He enjoyed spending time with friends.
He leaves behind a girlfriend, Julie, whom he loved and adored. He enjoyed watching T.V., going out to dinner and watching his favorite football team the Buffalo Bills. Ed will be greatly missed by his many friends in Rome and Utica. For many years, Ed had a devoted, loyal friend and advocate in Al Jones, who was always by his side.
He was very active at home and in the community. His favorite things to do were bowling and cycling. He competed in the Special Olympics in Ireland in 2003, winning a gold medal in the 15k road race. He enjoyed taking vacations, visiting Epcot Center in Disney World, and attending a NASCAR Race in the Poconos.
Eddie also enjoyed his work. Working at EARTH Industries, he subcontracted with a variety of companies including, Fasterform, Parlow, Granny’s Kitchen, Mohawk Valley Oil, Rome Credit Union and various lawn crew jobs. His most recent place of employment was for the City of Rome, making sure the parks were in perfect condition.
Services will be private. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
