Obituary of James A. Muldoon
James “Jim” A. Muldoon, age 72, of Rome, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2020, after a brief illness, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, with his loving family at his side.
He was born June 27, 1947, in Rome, a son of the late Paul and Janet Fenner Muldoon. He graduated from Rome Free Academy and attended HCCC. Jim was united in marriage to the former Laura Lanigan, on July 6, 1968, at St. Peter’s Church. He was a mechanic and worked at the former Sears and Montgomery Ward stores and retired from the Goodyear Auto Service Center. He was a member of St. Mary’s/St. Peter’s Parish and the Knight of Columbus. He also was a dedicated volunteer at Knights of Columbus Bingo.
Jim was an avid woodworker. He enjoyed restoring furniture and was a master at caning and rushing chairs.
Jim is survived by his wife, Laura; a daughter and son in law, Rebecca and Michael Herndon of Ocala, FL; two sons, David Muldoon and Terrie Johnson of Rome, and Christopher Muldoon of Ocala, FL; a sister and brother in law, Paulette and James Evans of Daytona Beach, FL; grandchildren, David J., Keegan, Azlinn, Kaleb, Quintan, Conner, Briar, Riley, Brayden and Barrett; great grandson, Jordan; and in-laws, Susan and Bob, Theresa, Mary Ann and Garry, Marilyn “Moey” and Philip and Ellie “Puggy” and Jack; and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter in law, Victoria (Tori), and two sisters, Nancy Muldoon and Mary Jones.
A Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Rev. Sean O’Brien, will be held on Saturday at 11:00 AM, at St. Peter’s Church. Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call at St. Peter’s Church on Saturday from 10 AM to 11 AM, prior to the funeral mass.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street.
