Obituary of Patricia C. Thomas
Patricia C. Thomas, 85, of Rome, passed away on December 17, 2019 at St. Luke’s Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Born October 29, 1934 in Corning, NY, she was the daughter of the late William J. Crane and Mary L. Crane.
Pat graduated from St. Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing in Elmira, NY and began her nursing career at Rome Memorial Hospital where she worked for over 30 years as a Surgical Nurse before retiring.
Pat was a wonderfully devoted wife, mother and grandmother whose greatest joy was spending time with her family. She loved to travel and often attended her grandchildren’s many sporting events. Pat also enjoyed trying her luck at the Turning Stone Casino and was an avid Syracuse basketball and New York Yankees fan.
Pat was predeceased by her loving husband, Roger M. Thomas, (May 24, 2002), whom she married on September 8, 1956, in Corning, NY. Surviving are her four sons, Gary (Mary) Thomas of Rome, David (Pamela) Thomas of Liverpool, Dr. James (Nadine) Thomas of Barneveld, and Steven (Michael) Thomas of Glen Ellen, CA; eight grandchildren, Michael, Brian, Keleigh (Patrick), Derek, Danielle, Dylan, Logan, Morgan, and two great-granddaughters.
Also, surviving is her brother, William J. Crane, of Painted Post; a sister, Jean C. Bonnell, of Salt Lake City; and a sister-in-law, Patricia (Richard) Thomas, of Leesburg, FL; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Teresa M. Crane; sister-in-law, Noreen Crane; and a brother-in-law, Richard J. Thomas.
The family would like to thank her many friends and the staff at the Terrace at Woodland for their care and generosity.
At Pat’s request, there will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the spring at St. Paul’s Church in Rome followed by interment at Rome Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
