Mary S. Dawson, age 94, of Rome, passed away peacefully on November 26, 2019 at Rome Memorial Hospital.

 

Mary was born in DeKalb Junction, NY on November 14, 1925 to the late Antonio and Anna Autunno Spadaccini. On May 26, 1951, she was united in marriage to Alfred J. Dawson, Jr. in Canton, NY; a blessed union of over 58 years until his passing on October 16, 2009.

 

Mary was an avid golfer, enjoyed cross country skiing and gardening.  She was a member of Teugega Country Club and Sleepy Hollow Golf Course. She was also a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church in Lee Center.

 

Mary is survived by her sons, William Dawson of Attica and Mark (Helena) Dawson of San Diego, CA; a grandson, Jeffrey; and a brother, James Spadaccini of DeKalb Junction. She was predeceased by a son, Jeffrey Dawson; and three brothers, Philip, Michael, and Nicholas Spadaccini.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Rev. Robert L. Kelly, will be held on Wednesday at 11 am, at St. Joseph’s Church, Lee Center.  Burial will be in Rome Cemetery.

 

Relatives and friends may call at St. Joseph’s Church on Wednesday from 10 am to 11 am, prior to the funeral mass.

 

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street.
