Obituary of Rose Schneible Fenton

Please share a memory of Rose to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Rose Schneible Fenton, 83, a resident of Charlottesville, Virginia, and formerly of Rome, passed away peacefully October 29, 2019, after complications from heart surgery.

Rose, a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, cousin and dear friend, lived to ensure she stayed in touch with her large network of family and friends both in the Rome and Charlottesville area, and beyond. She is remembered for her sense of humor, beautiful smile, warmhearted generosity and sense of adventure with her renowned road trips often taken spontaneously to discover and explore new sites and activities. She was a devoted grandmother to her two granddaughters constantly following their life long passions for music and the arts.

An avid sports fan, she grew up attending many Syracuse Orange games at Carrier Dome, while gradually transitioning her allegiance to the University of Virginia Cavaliers football and basketball teams.

She was married to M. Edward Fenton, Sr., who passed in 2007. Together, they moved to a retirement home in Palmyra, Virginia in 1990 after raising their family and spending most of their lives in Rome.

Surviving are her children, M. Edward Fenton, Jr., his wife, Maria, and their two daughters, Olivia and Gia, of Wethersfield, Connecticut; Laurie Fenton Ambrose, her husband, Christopher, of Delaplane, Virginia; and Andrew Fenton of Rome. Surviving also are sisters in law, Dorothy (Dody) Schneible of Rocky River, Ohio, Rita Fenton Koronowski of Utica, and Diane Fenton of Rome; as well as many cousins, nephews and nieces. She is predeceased by her sister, Victoria Schneible Pratt; and brothers, Paul, Laurence, and Scott Schneible.

The family will hold a Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of her life at St. Peter’s Church on November 23, 2019 at 11AM, and will receive family and friends at the church from 10 AM to 11 AM prior to the funeral.

A Remembrance Mass will take place for friends in the Charlottesville area at St. Isadore the Farmer Church, Orange, Virginia on December 6, at 12:15 PM.

In lieu of flowers, charitable donations can be made to The Visiting Angels, 1952 William Street, Fredericksburg, VA 22401, and/or to St. Isadore the Farmer Church, 14414 St. Isadore Way, Orange, Virginia, 22960.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street.
