Obituary of Dennis J. Olejniuk

Dennis J. Olejniuk, age 71, of Rome, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2019 at Bethany Gardens.

 

Dennis was born in Rome on October 8, 1947 to the late Nicholas and Lillian McDonald Olejniuk. He graduated from Rome Free Academy and joined the U.S. Air Force, serving during Vietnam, and was honorably discharged in 1970. On March 5, 1972, he was united in marriage to the former Mona Pelon. Dennis worked as a manager at Sears retiring with over 30 years of service.

 

Dennis was a member of the Lee Legion. He had his pilot license and was a certified SCUBA diver.

 

Dennis is survived by his wife, Mona; his sister, Marlene “Marty” Urtz; two brothers, Ron (Marilyn) Olejniuk, and Chip (Mary Munney-Griffiths) Olejniuk all of Lee Center; and many nieces and nephews.

 

The family would like to thank the staff of Bethany Gardens, especially the staff on the 3rd floor, for their care and compassion shown to Dennis during his time there.

 

Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 5 PM at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Burial will be private.

 

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 3 to 5 PM prior to the service.

 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bethany Gardens Activities Department.
