Obituary of Anthony J. Bonacci

Anthony “Tony” J. Bonacci, age 75, of Rome, passed away on September 14, 2019 at Rome Memorial Hospital.

 

Tony was born in Syracuse to the late Nick and Dorothy Cianfrano Bonacci. He graduated from Rome Free Academy and after high school, enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard and was honorably discharged. Tony worked as a loan officer for several banks in Rome, eventually retiring from Rome Savings Bank.

 

Tony loved golfing, going to the casino, and the race track. He enjoyed watching, talking about sports, and spending time with his sister Corrine's family.

 

Tony is survived by two sisters, Betty Versic of FL, and Corrine (Ronald) Harris of Rome; a brother, Peter Bonacci of Rome; his aunt, Rosie Bonacci; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Rodney, Robert, and Nicholas.

 

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday at 1 PM at the Church of St. John the Baptist, with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio officiating. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery.

 

There are no calling hours.

 

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street.
