Obituary of Norman Dennis Anthony Ackerman

Norman Dennis Anthony Ackerman, age 63, of Rome, passed away on Monday at the Roswell Park Cancer Institute, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Syracuse, NY, on January 14, 1950 to the late Francis and Nora LaMountain Ackerman. He was educated in the Utica Schools. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Norman enjoyed landscaping and wood working. Norman is survived by a daughter, Sarah Ackerman of CA; four brothers and two sisters in law, Leonard and Sue Ackerman of CA, Ronald Ackerman Sr. of Wendt, NY, Dean Sr. and Sharon Ackerman of Rome, and Walter LaMountain of MN; two sisters and a brother in law, Doris and Robert Buchanan Sr. of Durhamville, NY and Shirley Roberts of TX. He was predeceased by two brothers, Dana and Willard Ackerman, and a sister, Martha Owens. Funeral services will be held at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street, on Thursday at 7 PM. Burial will be private. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 to 7 PM prior to the service.
