Obituary of Carol A. Jones

Carol A. Jones, age 70, of Lee Center, passed away on May 15, 2013, with her loving family by her side. Carol was born in Rome, NY on September 17, 1942 to David N. Jr. and Margaret McLaughlin Boswell. She graduated from Rome Free Academy as part of the Class of 1961. On October 29, 1960, she married John J. Hrynuk, with the Rev. David N. Boswell Sr. officiating. From that union, she had three sons. On February 21, 1999, she married Philip. H. Jones on the beach on Fort Meyers Beach, FL with Lana Nankervis officiating and Carol's father giving her away. Carol retired from Verizon after 18 ½ years. She worked at he Prescription Center in Rome for over four years, retiring due to illness. She was a member of the Lee Legion Auxillary, Moose Club, Rome VFW, Telephone Pioneers of America, and the Point Rock Church. Carol was the family support group leader for over 15 years at the NY State Armory in Rome. Surviving are her husband and best friend, Philip; her three sons and daughters in law, Thomas Hrynuk of Ava, Ronald and Susan Hrynuk of Ava, and Michael and Lynne Hrynuk of Boonville; three step daughters, Terry Quinn of Port Leyden, Crystal Suminguit and her husband Dean of Boonville, and Lindsay and Kevin Swab of Auburn, NY; eight grandchildren, John Thomas Hrynuk, Kaylee Hrynuk, Connor Hrynuk, Joseph Chaisson Jr., Nathaniel Swab and Darby Swab, Regan Swab, and Jason Suminguit; a sister and brother in law, Martha and Larry Hammond of FL; brother in law Wilbur Jones; Father in law, Hubert C. Jones of Rome; sister in law, Sandra Flint; and several nieces and nephews. Carol was predeceased by her parents, David and Margaret Boswell Jr.; her grandparents, The Rev. David and Mary Boswell Sr.; a brother, Wallace D. Boswell; her mother in law, Marion Lawton Jones; a special aunt, Beatrice Wade; nephews, Larry Witzigman, Martin Witzigman, Mary Witzigman Zukowski, Augustine Witzigman, Raymond Zukowski and Marion Freeman. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 17 at 7 PM at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 7 PM prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Carol's memory to the American Cancer Society and/or American Diabetes Association or Point Rock Methodist Church.
