Obituary of Eleanor M. Hubal

Please share a memory of Eleanor to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Eleanor Hubal, 89, of Rome, New York passed away peacefully on Tuesday December 11, 2012. She was born in Rome, New York where she married Peter Hubal. She lived most her married life in Westmoreland where she raised three children. She enjoyed camping and traveling with friends and family throughout her years. Many laughs and memories were made around campfires. Her dining room table was a gathering place for birthdays, holidays, card games and conversations that would last late in to the evenings. She enjoyed visits from friends and families and was always known to have the "scoop". Eleanor loved writing and sending cards. Anyone who knew Eleanor, knew to always look in the mail for a card on any occasion. If there was a reason to send a card, she would send one! Once grandchildren came along, her home became filled with candy and sugary treats. Something could always be found in her lower cabinet that would make any child smile. She was a loving mother, and an extremely special grandmother. She was involved in all her grandchildren's sporting events, concerts, birthdays and holidays. She loved giving gifts and spoiling them whenever possible. She knew how to make them laugh and was always up to date on her current events causing her to be a colorful conversationalist. She created a home full of magical memories for not only friends, but her family as well. Eleanor had a special love for collecting owls. Her collection started out small, and grew enormously over time. Friends and family filled her home with owls bought all over the country. She loved to brag about the fact that even though she had so many, there were very few that were the same. Eleanor was a passionate, caring and very giving woman. People were drawn to her wit and humor. She will be sadly missed by many. Eleanor is survived by a daughter and son in law, Linda and Ray Loomis of Westernville; a sister in law, Stella Beer of Rome; grandchildren and spouses, Shelley and Jim Kinney, Lawrence and Melinda Hubal, Becky and Jim McConnell, Robert and Ludean Hubal, Katrina Bach, Brandy and Rich Eaton, Matthew Olbrys, Jessica Olbrys, Amanda and Kyle Stevens, Joshua and Marisa Olbrys; 16 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sons, Peter Hubal, Jr., and William Hubal. A graveside service will be held Saturday at 12:30 PM at Evergreen Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Please offer online tributes or light a candle at: www.BarryFuneralHome.com
