Obituary of Harold F. Patchen

Harold "Red" Patchen Harold "Red" F. Patchen, age 88, of Rome, passed away peacefully, October 14 2012, with his loving family at his side. He was born April 22, 1924, in Rome, a son of the late William and Ella Hall Patchen, and educated in Rome schools. Harold was united in marriage to the former Joyce Barnard on August 17, 1946, in Rome; she died September 22, 1993. He worked for years as a scheduler for Rome Cable Corp., until his retirement in 1985. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII, and fought in the "Battle of the Bulge". Red was a member of the 69th Infantry Division Association, Battle of the Bulge Association, V.F.W. Rome, Henry P. Smith Post #24 and the Steczko Post. Red is survived by two sons, Harold J. Patchen of Ballston Lake, NY and William Patchen Camp Verde, AZ; two daughters and a son-in-law Kay and William Pearman of Lafayette, NY and Lynda Courage of Webster, NY: a brother Raymond Patchen of Londonderry, NH; 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Gerald Patchen and sister, Aletha Maurer. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11:00 AM at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. The family would like to thank, Rome Memorial Hospital 2 north Nurses and CNAs and Drs.
